Primavera etc/actual hours problem

Hi hope someone can help me with this, I have a feeling its a setting somewhere that I dont know about.
This is a project which was already created when I got here, all I am doing is changing the ETC in accordance with the PMs directions, but when I do, the actuals this period keep going up!!

Can anyone tell me what would cause this? It almost seems like its balancing out??

Have you tried store period performance? my suggestion is that before you do an update: make a back-up, do store period performance, then update the programme to the next data date..
