So is this a good thing or a bad thing? Not that I'm quite clear on why the split was necessary in the first place.

I believe that it's politics! It's positioned as a good thing but probably isn't. Earned Value Management and Project Management should go together but these two groups can't seem to work it out.

We'll probably have overlap now, with the PMI starting another EVM group.
