Let us approach "best" / "trusted" Methodology

when it comes to PM, what "methodology" do you find works. When you approach PM, what core method(s) do you repeatedly bring to the table?

There are of course a broad range of techniques, tools, and skill brought to the table, and many are stored in the PMBOK... but what do you count on without exception when you consider PM, and what do you say when "this is my Methodology". Do you go for icons like the pmbok?, and what of your tried and proven knowledge takes you down successful roads?

Is it always prudent (or is it?) to say PM is comprised of five PMprocess groups and nine... knowledge areas? Hummm.

Talking

Well, I'm glad something constructive came out of this "field of dreams" thread (ie. "build [start] it and they [participants] will come").

Refference Framework is needed.

Dear All,

As all of us know, How FIDIC has changed the CONTRACT ADMINISTRATION scenario all over the world, due to it's simplicity. Every organisation / agency (from Client side) has their own set of Contract Conditions (but will surely show Basic Frame work of FIDIC, modified to suit the Project Environment)

I believe that PMBIK shall also be projected and developed, in such motive. So, that one common standard can be used by all the organisations across the varity of industries.

Major task would be to make customers (organisations) convinced to try it out, leaving the traditional approches behind.

I have one request to group, i am very much interested in reading the PMBOK material, I have gone through one, now i want to study it thoroughly, can somebody help me out?

no need to reinvent the wheel

the FIDIC like the PMBOK... the client side does not have to reinvent the wheel. we can talk with a similair convention.
