What is the best PM tool for resource scheduling/managing for a medium size company

Hi All,

I just started a new job with a medium size software company (60 ppl). They are experiencing challenges in the resource management area. They are using the older version of Base Camp and just recently started using MS Project for project schedule creation & progress tracking. Base Camp is mostly used for time keeping purposes. MS Project & Base Camp don't talk to each other. I'm trying to find a tool that would give me the overall overview of all the projects and resources allocation. Ideally unified tool to enter the time and track the project progress.
They have 30 consultants split between East & West coast. Very hard to know who's doing what. I'm trying to find a tool that will give me a snapshot (calendar per say) for all the resources with the tasks assigned to them.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!!!!
Thank you!!!!

Well your requirement could be meet up with the cloud based solution from Replicon. The project management tool is featured with calendar based and user friendly interface which manage the projects even in the remotely located areas. The priority setting, time allocation, dividing the project into small small tasks and dividing them among teams are all done up automatically.

Hello,
For a medium sized IT company having around 60 employees the best option would be to go in for Agile scrum for project management purposes. Scrum is specially recommended for IT development projects, and should be the main development methodology to think about if you want to develop projects offering greater productivity and decreased operational costs. One of the main advantages of scrum is that it helps you to develop project modules and codes which have high business values, and you can also control which features and functionalities are important in terms of profit generation. Besides developing software which can generate very high profit margins you can actually avail higher ROI for your projects. Scrum is the best choice for you, and it is recommended you hire a scrum consultant to know more about benefits you can avail through scrum.

Smile Best resource scheduling tools

A guide to the best resource scheduling tools and resource management software - The Digital Project Manager

I’ve written this article on resource scheduling tools which covers many of the tools on the market with this type of resource management functionality.

To be featured on this list we were looking for tools which had a minimum:
 • Resource planning, scheduling and management – putting the right people on projects and moving them around easily on a simple, collaborative, calendar grid that’s as simple as working with Excel or Google Sheets
 • Clients and project planning – managing client and project details and have a single source of truth to feed all the other features
 • Analytics and reporting – giving insight into capacity, utilization and performance for projects, clients and individuals
It’s worth comparing different resource scheduling tools as they’re set at different price points, different functionality (such as timesheets, expenses, approval workflows, task management), and different 3rd party integrations.

But as much as anything, it’ll come down to your resourcing workflow and what functionality you need to make that function better. Have a look and sign up for some trials to test-drive and find the best resource scheduling tool for your agency or studio.

Task management tool is one of the most important part of any team collaboration. There are many apps based on Agile methodology, but the most functional I have ever tried is Atlaz https://atlaz.io/ It contains Backlog, Sprint, Kanban boards and even Roadmap tool. Today it's ready for open beta testing, so you can try it for free.
