Question PRX Files

Have both P6.1 and P3.1 available to work with. When receiving PRX files from other companies have problems opening the file in P3.1. Tried to extract, rename file extension etc. P3.1 is still unable to see the file.

Can open the file in P6.1 but the durations and start/finish dates do not match the original file.

What is the best way to handle PRX files? Open them in 3.1 or 6.1. How can the issues above be fixed?

I think the question you should ask is which version tools should you be using, v6.1 or v3.1? usually prx file doesnt have a problem opening in the v3.1.

Tried 3.1 as the first option. Extracted the file, renamed the extension, etc. Problem is that the Primavera is unable to locate the file even after all that regardsless of the drive I use to save the extraction,

Default Try to check that everything is working OK!

Please check that PRX file operate ok on other machines, and check the original machine, exclude all possibilities.

Sounds to me like whoever sent you the PRX file is running P3 on pervasive and not P3's native btrieve. An easy way to check this is to run conv567.exe and check the status of the project in question. If anything in the list comes back unrecognized that is your problem.
