project plan templates

Clarity on the project tasks, milestones, who's doing what, when and so on is critic. I suggest to explore on-line project management tools like:"Clarizen"
Also look at the templates option.

I agree .. online apps are the way to go...
Some project management software is too complex for small business or home user, and some simple task managers don't offer enough e.g. collaboration functions. I have been using a free online project management app called Verb
This sits between the two groups of software and is definitely worth a try.
