| Hoping you can help me with a query. I'm writing some project documentation guidance for people who are not that experienced in formal project management methodology. I'm trying to explain in simple terms what a project objective actually is. My guidance currently states: Your project objective(s) is one or more business benefits that you expect to achieve as a result of the use of the outputs created by the project. A project can have more than one objective. Each should be listed as a simple sentence and should be measurable. My colleague (well boss actually!) has commented on the above as follows: "still struggling with this. Benefits are outcomes, not objectives. Objectives are usually the ‘how’ so we will get to the aim by doing these things" Who is right and has anyone got any better suggestions for how I describe a project objective in non project terms? Thanks a lot Markster |
