WBS and level of effort

For each of your tasks in your WBS you will need to estimate the effort required to complete the tasks. Effort is the way in which we measure work. For example, to paint your living room at home might take one person 2 full days to complete. So in this case, the effort required would be 2 person/days. This is the work which can be done by one person in two days.

A Work Package is a formal agreement of the work to be done by a person or a team. the Work Package should contain (at a minimum) the description of work to be done, and must include the specifications of the products to be delivered. Work Packages are then normally agreed between a Project Manager and a Team Manager. The agreement must include: what is to be delivered and how it will be tested, when it will be delivered, how much it will cost (if you are paying a 3rd party supplier), and/or agreement on the expected effort (especially if the work is done in-house).

Work Packages are described within the PRINCE2 project management framework and are covered as part of a standard PRINCE2 training course.

Project Management Training Course

Hi Sigma8!

Work Package involves work that is involved in a project, however work packages imply deliverables, where as activities and tasks refer to the work that goes into creating these deliverables.. And

The phrase Level of Effort in the sphere of project management can and typically does have reference to any particular support type activity that customarily does not lend itself to the ultimate establishment via measure of the sum total of discrete accomplishment.

Hope this gives you clearer picture of wbs..

Have a great day

Thanks & Regrads.
