Exclamation Is PMP Overrated?

Project Management Professional (PMP) credential is the most important industry-recognized certification for project managers. Now few people say that PMP is overrated. Do you think so?

Looking forward for your responses.

Melissa,
I've been an engineering project manager for a number of years without any formal certifications. However, I believe that PMP certification sends a clear message to potential employers that you are knowledgeable and serious about your career. It will definitely open doors for you that may otherwise be closed to an uncertified PM like myself. With that being said, I am finally starting the process of getting certified myself. So to answer your question... it's not overrated...it's just under appreciated by those that do not understand what it entails.
