Smile Does MBA Study help passing PMP ??

Hi,

I have done my MBA, and wish to ppear for PMP.

I have a few questions -

1. Will the knowledge I obtained in MBA help me pass the PMP?
2. If yes, then to what extent?
3. Is the MBA syllabus overlapping with that of PMP?

Regards,
Akil

I don't think so. Did your MBA studies touch on project management? I doubt it did so in the kind of depth required to pass the PMP exam. The PMP exam was designed to ensure that testers have mastered the material in the PMBOK guide and have a fundamental understanding of project management concepts and terminology (as defined by PMI/PMBOK).

Thanks John.

I had some of the topics overlapping, with that of PMP. To name a few like organization types, critical paths etc. don't recollect fully though. Thats the reason I was a bit curious to find this out.

Definitely this does not mean that I would be fully relying on my MBA knowledge to pass PMP, but wanted to find if the there is an overlap since this will smoothen my learning curve for passing PMP.

I guess it depends upon your MBA program.

BTW, the quote in my sig is from a character in a TV show. My name is Stacy, not John.
