Schedule Calendar Issue I have a bit of an issue with regard to setting up a project calender for a new construction project and I was hoping you may be able to offer me some direction. I'm in the process of creating a construction schedule in MS project 2010. The project duration is estimated to be around 6-8 months. Proposed manning starts at 5 and is estimated to peak around 40. The working day is 10.5 hrs. The manpower will be working shifts of 3 weeks on, 1 week off with day 14 a rest day. The shifts will be staggered to maintain workflow (yet to be determined). My issue is how to create a realistic calender to reflect this type of shift pattern which would also allow me to generate a daily manpower loading trend over the program to confirm peak manning, accommodation and flight requirements, etc. Given the limitation of MS Project, will I be creating an overly complex calender that is unmanageable given there could be up to 40 personnel. I'm considering whether to use an average of 7.5hrs per working day per person over 28 days as an simpler alternative however I can see flaws in using this too. Any suggestions on how to start tackling this issue would be greatly received. Cheers |

We do prefer using the cloud based task management and calendar tools which are preferably considered as the best means for scheduling and working on the process to get ahead with work structure.

I would recommend trying a dedicated calendar based resource scheduling tool for your required level of scheduling.
