Question Project Widows and Orphans and XML

I am looking for a tool that will analyze XML code from a project file and will identify tasks that are widows - no successors, and orphans - no predecessors.

Does anyone know of one, or am I going to have to write tool this myself?

I use this approach to ensure that all task chains are properly integrated into the plan. That way, I can see and evaluate the logical critical path (based on dependencies) before I do resource leveling.

I know that in MS Project I can just add the successor column and eyeball it, or look at the network diagram and see it all there. However, I am not able to use MS Project for the contract I am on right now. And, I am lazy. I want a tool that will quickly draw my attention to the broken parts of the plan so that I can figure them out and fix them.
