Hi FF, welcome to the forum.

You will always get a better response when you ask specific questions.

Some of the following might help to improve Planning skills. Unlike math or science, it's not an exact skill with precise answers. Instead it's a skill based on experience and judgement, as you perform this over time

IDEAS to improve planning:

1. Books related to planning or Construction Project Management might be worth investing in (and your company may pay for this).

2. Even some articles available via the Internet might help provide ideas (some of these links might have vendor products and try to focus on articles primarily):

3. Planning requires concentration and a quiet environment, so that you focus on the big picture and then take each task and break it down into applicable components.

4. Sometimes it's good to get input from the team itself during planning (you can average estimates from multiple participants or gain insight that you might otherwise overlook).

5. Recognize that planning is not a one-time effort, but something that is achieved through continous improvement over time. For example, it's very rare that an original project plan will stay exactly as it's authored, as issues, interruptions, misinterpretations, and other things will factor in.
