Lightbulb Looking for a free MS Project substitute? - its your lucky day!

Last week saw the release of Planner v3.0. This great tool is from the proven stable of PROJECT in a box and completely free, use it as long as you want or as many projects as you want.

Key features:
- load data from existing MS Project files
- export data to create MS Project Files
- create tasks and summaries with simple dependencies
- set up resourcing, store % complete, comments and tags
- move and copy tasks or summaries
- zoom, pan, timescale management, customise calendars
- printing and data export

So that's what you expect, right? now for the rest:
- apply filters based on resource, tags, overdue etc
- manage resource lists, personalise display colours and data

Can it be used in agile methodology too? Anything extra required for that?

Updated planner

Alice, yes you can certainly use Planner on Agile projects.

Planner is now at version 3.1 with a whole load of fantastic new features includign the ability to use and create views. These are stored rules, preferences and filters which thange your display so you cn jump between overdue tasks and cost views immediately. This gives you a whole new perspective on your plan.....no longer just the traditional gantt display now you can data mine it too.

You can also use veiews on Risks and Issues too. Iterative improvemnets include multiple dependencies, cost model, copy risk to issue and issue to risk, password lock and much more.
