Default Getmyprojectdone.com

I recently came across a new web base PM tool “Getmyprojectdone.com” and wanted to know if anyone else has tried it. I’m an independent consultant and used it on a small software project. 75 tasks 4 developers. It worked very well, it’s web based which worked great being my developers where in different time zones. It also has a feature call “observer” which allowed my client to view all the task status and make comments, but not change any other information. My client found this very helpful in keeping him totally in sync with our development effort. I’m starting a much larger (700+ tasks 15 developers) project and I’m planning on using it. . The cost of the small project was about $100 that seems very reasonable to me. On this new project, the cost is less then $400.

Regards,
James

Default I like getmyprojectdone.com a lot.

Hi,

I've used getmyprojectdone.com on a large scale project suite, where I had to perform oversight on moving hundreds of business specific applications from an old and rickety infrastructure to a newly outsourced infrastructure. Many of the applications were compliance related and had hard deadlines.

The getmyprojectdone site is quite a bit different from the usual MS project type of fare and it suits my style very well. I am not fond of nor do I need resource leveling or gantt charts and so forth. I am very big on issue management and partnering and flexibility. While one or two of the project leads did use MS project as a supplement for some detail work, I was concerned with tracking multiple projects and rolling them up into a master project, and getmyprojectdone.com really fit the bill.

I was able to bring in key people (in what the getmyprojectdone site refers to as "team member" roles) from the app teams, networking team and hardware build team to my account. Thereafter, the leads were always on the same page, story and status wise, as they could access this web based tool from anywhere at anytime. The team also included two critical outside vendor partners without problems. (Prior to using getmyprojectdone there was quite a bit of finger pointing. After using it we got down to fact based fixups. What a relief!) We used the exception flagging feature a lot to keep our meeting discussions restricted to what items needed our attention and help. Also, I always was able to know what was coming at us in the near term using their nifty "outlook reports".

On the minus side, the sign up for what they call a "user identity" was somewhat tedious and I could not change my username from what they assigned to me. But in due course I remembered it easily and appreciated their careful attention to security, as I was dealing with some sensitive information. Their pricing was certainly fair so I was willing to put up with a cryptic user name.

Based on my experience so far I intend to continue using this product in my future consulting work.

Mtdahand, Thanks for your comments. I've gone forward and added my new project to my current account. I've also contacted the developers and they where very responsive.

Regards,
James
