Hi Hien,
Templates are useful in Project Management across all of the phases of a project. Each phase of a project requires particular documents (e.g. Business case, project plan, Post-Implementation Review). You can design each one of these yourself from scratch, but its extremely time consuming and difficult to remember all of the right information. Its therefore easier to use a pre-designed template. There are several good web sites out there providing examples for you. Try this one for starters:

A template is basically a project file (or part of a project file) that contains either an outline or a full shedule that you can modify/adapt/expand to fit your current project.
